Forgotten Warriors – A short documentary focusing on Buffalo Soldier History and the Buffalo Soldier Memorial Project

The GSAAC is involved with the filming of a short 30 minute documentary by Access Tucson Community Media.  The documentary will focus on the history of Buffalo Soldiers in the Southwest and Southern Arizona.  It will also focus on the proposed Buffalo Soldier Memorial and why this type of  memorial is needed in the Tucson community.  The memorial project was included Pima County bond package that the voters failed to approve in November 2015.

Interviews included the following people:

  • John Langellier, Buffalo Soldier Historian and Author
  • Councilman Richard Fimbres, Ward 5

We are hoping this documentary can serve as a catalyst to reviving the memorial initiative.

The first interview was conducted with Dr. John Langellier, Buffalo Soldier Historian and author who discussed

The second interview was conducted at the Ward 5 Office, 22 July, with Councilman Fimbres.
